“It stopt Raining and Began to Snow and Blow hard… it was the Disagreeablest night I ever saw.”
–John Tipton, October 19, 1811 diary entry
Staff rides are an engaging and innovative way to study history. They can be conducted with few resources, but as with any instructional method, they can be enhanced with additional materials that bring the era and its participants to life.
The purpose of this section is to provide people with material that they can use to enhance their presentations, classroom tools, and general research about the campaign, battle, and events related to this period of American military history. Some of the resources are not directly related to the campaign or battle, but they are representative of the period.
